The mission of Western Environmental Trade Association (WETA) is to establish and maintain coalitions to promote conservation-minded economic development in Montana.
Tenets
The Association (WETA) will follow these tenets in advancing its mission statement:
- WETA shall develop coalitions between representatives of business and commercial industry, labor, agriculture, the scientific community, recreationists, the transportation industry and others with an interest in building the economic well being of the people of Montana in a manner that is in harmony with the natural environment. WETA welcomes to its membership Montana companies, associations and citizens who support WETA's mission, its tenets, and its goals.
- WETA will engage in the development and support of laws, regulations, standards and procedures which enhance economic development, employment and environmental protection.
- WETA believes that scientific methodology and data should form the basis for the statutory and regulatory structure that determines how Montana's natural environment will be protected.
- WETA shall retain the flexibility necessary to adapt to changes in circumstances and in methodology which are constantly occurring.
- WETA supports the rights of individuals which must be considered during statutory and regulatory processes. A proper relationship must be established between the rights of individuals and "the common good".
WETA will continue to build understanding of the relationship between the natural ecology and the economy of Montana. WETA seeks to educate the public and government entities concerning this relationship. WETA shall advance the economic well being of the people of Montana in harmony with the natural environment.
